Cleaning below the gumline
Where a pocket has formed around a tooth, the deposit inside it is out of reach of a toothbrush. Pocket elimination cleans it out so the gum can tighten back against the tooth. It is done by quadrant or by arch depending on how much is involved.
Surgery and grafting
A flap procedure lifts the gum so the root surface underneath can be cleaned properly, then lays it back. Where tissue has already been lost, a free gingival graft or a connective tissue graft replaces it. Gingivectomy reshapes gum that has overgrown.
Depigmentation
Some people have naturally dark patches of gum, which is normal and harmless. Depigmentation lightens them. It is a cosmetic treatment and there is no health reason to have it.
